The exciting journey of
Egypt is incomplete without appreciating the mighty look of the magnificent
pyramids. These are among the top
tourist attraction in the country standing proudly giving a brilliant piece of
architecture. Originally, these were built as tomb of kings in the 4th
dynasty.
This Egypt
Pyramids of Giza involves the great pyramid of Khufu,
Khafre and Menkaure. The pyramid of Khufu was one of the world’s seventh wonder
and also the tallest building on earth for about 4300 years before the
establishment of Eiffel Tower. This pyramid is mainly made of limestone
containing 1300,000 blocks of weight ranging from 2.5 tons to 15 tons. The pyramid
is basically standing on a square base with each side measuring about 230 m
covering an area of 13 acres.
Another
pyramid is of Khafre, son of Khufu. It is usually characterised by its unique
layers of its casing stones and this remains in the summit with the fact that
stands on a higher part of the plateau giving a unique impression that it is
bigger than Pyramid of Khufu.
The last of
these pyramids is Khafre’s son, Menkaure, the smallest of the three. It is
merely 65.5 metre tall with the sides of 105 m at an angle of 51.3 degrees. It
differs from the other two in the choice of the casing stones. In contrast to
the fine, white torah limestone casing of father and grandfather, pyramid of
Menkaure is cased in fine, white torah limestone from 15 metres and below this
it is cased with pink granite.
Finally, one
may find these Egypt pyramids of Giza as evidence of great work of artisans
creating a unique, historical masterpiece that may last for generations to
come.
